STEM EDUCATION CONFERENCE YSEALI – PHNOM PENH, COMBODIA
Ending the selection process of the United States Diplomatic Mission. Ms.Pham Thuy Hang, Department of Research management and international Affairs executive, Graduate University of Science and Technology was selected to attend the STEM EDUCATION CONFERENCE YSEALI – PHNOM PENH, COMBODIA held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in early March 2018. She also represented Vietnam at the conference and won the STEM Park Project.
Southeast Asia Young Leadership Program (YSEALI) - initiative of US President Barack Obama, is a prominent program of the United States government. YSEALI focuses on important topics that young people in the region are interested in the positive spirit of the citizen, environment and the management of natural resources, start-ups and economic development. YSEALI aims to strengthen leadership and connectivity within ASEAN members, connects young leaders in the face of key regional and global challenges, and promote relations between United States citizen and young leaders of Southeast Asia.
Organizing Committee and Participants in STEM EDUCATION CONFERENCE
Ending the selection process of the United States Diplomatic Mission,50 YSEALI members from all ASEAN countries have been selected to attend the STEM Education Conference, 2017 with the aim of promoting STEM education for youth in the region. Ms. Pham Thuy Hang from the Graduate University of Science and Technology was also invited to report and discuss Vietnam's current challenges in STEM education, while proposing real solutions. Report and discussion on STEM education in ASEAN
In this conference, members also worked very actively and focused to develop projects to promote STEM education. At the Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium, Pham Thuy Hang's STEM Park project was selected as one of the three winning projects and received initial funding from the Embassy of USA. STEM Park is expected to be implemented in the near future with the cooperation of YSEALI members in Vietnam, Brunei, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand and Myanmar.
