Seminar “Experience on application deployment from scientific and technological research results”.

On 17/09/2018 Graduate University of Science and Technology (GUST) Collaborated with the institute of Materials Science and Center for High Technology Development to hold the Seminar “Experience on application deployment from scientific and technological research results”. Prof. Phan Ngoc Minh, Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), Director of GUST attended and hosted the Seminar. This is a practical activity in accordance with the project “National Program to Support Innovative Startup Ecosystem in Vietnam by the year 2025” approved by The Prime Minister 8/05/2016. This project focuses the importance of entrepreneurial creativity that is government’s top priority.

Seminar “Experience on application deployment from scientific and technological research results”.

Prof. Phan Ngoc Minh, Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Director of Graduate University of Science and Technology delivered the opening speech.

The goal of Seminar was to exchange and share with influential scientists in the country and in the world, having succeeded in commercializing scientific research products. The Seminar attracted more than 90 students and PhD students from the Institute of Science and Technology, scientists from nearly 20 units inside and outside the VAST.

After the seminar, there were reports compiled by 4 speakers:

Prof. Nguyen Son Binh (Northwestern University), one of the five most influential Vietnamese-born scientists, published by Thomson Reuters in 2017. He has published numerous scientific papers in prestigious international journals. He has had over 30 patents and many his studies have been developed into commercial products that share the inspiration and experience of his achievements. Especially, Dr. Binh presented a number of examples of commercialization of research products and opportunities of Vietnamese to join the research world in the field of application deployment from the results of scientific and technological researches.

Seminar “Experience on application deployment from scientific and technological research results”.

Prof.Dr.Nguyen Son Binh spoke at the conference.

In the Seminar, Dr. Ha Phuong Thu (Institute of Materials Science, Lecturer of GUST) shared her experience in supporting the commercialization of nanoparticles at the Institute of Materials Science. As one of Dr. Thu’s successful researches and deployment applications, this scientific research has been constituted solid achievements in manufacturing cancer-fighting drugs that have been commercialized in the market. As a result, she was voted as one of the 50 most influential women in Vietnam by Forbes in 2017. Dr. Thu also received the Vietnam Women's Award for her contribution to public health and this was one of two distinguished Vietnamese scientists in the list of 10 outstanding events in 2017.

In the Seminar, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Hoi (Institute of Materials Science, Lecturer of GUST is the author of 05 exclusive patents in 2017 and 2018) and Dr. Pham Manh Hao (Center for High Technology Development, lecturer of GUST), who has nearly 20 years for field of patent assessment At National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam and many years of Management of intellectual property rights protection. These are the scientists who have many successes in intellectual property.

This Seminar is especially meaningful for scientists, PhD students and graduate students, contributing to the enhancement of scientific research capacity, as well as to promoting the results of research implementation and providing a good basis for the development of long-term scientific research for researchers.

In the Seminar, participants discussed various aspects regarding the deployment model in the United States, how they were applied in Vietnam,

They also shared difficulties in terms of how to put scientific and technological results into real life as well as experiences in registration regarding intellectual property rights protection from these results.

The Seminar is also one of the important activities teaching - scientific research - invention and start-up support in GUST. Thanks to GUST’s specific characteristics, the connections between teaching practice and scientific research has created pleasant working and learning environments for learners, researchers and technologists to promote products, supply vital equipment for trial testing. This results in well-trained staff resources with specialist and multidisciplinary knowledge in both theoretical and practical fields.
