Results of international publication at Graduate University of Science and Technology (GUST) from international data.
GUST was established on September 22, 2014 under Decision No. 1691 / QD-TTg of the Prime Minister.GUST’s mission is managing and promoting postgraduate training in VAST. In order to become a prestigious research university, GUST always enhances scientific publications in the reputed international magazines.
According to Scopus (Scopus is Elsevier’s abstract and citation database launched in 2004. Scopus covers nearly 36,377 titles (22,794 active titles and 13,583 Inactive titles) from approximately 11,678 publishers, of which 34,346 are peer-reviewed journals in top-level subject fields: Maths, Information techonology, Chemistry, life sciences, earth sciences, environment, Medicine and social sciences). According to the ISI and Scopus list of GUST from 2015 up to now: 2015: 02 articles; 2016: 33 articles; 2017: 113 articles; 2018: 138 articles (to the end of 31/8/2018).

GUST is ranked the 7th of the best Vietnamese University having outstanding international publication in Scopus journal list. Beside GUST, University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (Vietnam-France University) belonging to Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology ranked 15th in the system of universities of Vietnam. Thus, both universities under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (although newly established) have reported relatively well in the university system of the country.

In addition to the number of publications, GUST has also focusing the quality of international papers. In 2017, the highest impact factor of Publication was 8,586 (author Ngo Quoc Anh and his colleagues). In 2018, GUST announced that the publication having highest impact factor was 21.85 in the Advanced Energy Materials journal (Author: Tran Dai Lam and colleagues).
Rector of GUST presented the reward to the authors having more than 10 publications on the ISI Journal list and the group of authors whose publications had the highest impact index in 2017.
Furthermore, many lecturers of GUST had over 10 ISI publications in one year. It showed that GUST’s research potential.
However, the result publications of GUST comparing to the other universities in region and international was relatively modest. For example, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi of Thailand ranked No. 1 in Southeast Asia, ranked 301th-340th in Asia, the number of publications of GUST have to make a lot of efforts get their rank.
In order to quickly become a prestigious research university, GUST should enhance more and more science and technology activities associating with educational activities. Thanks to support of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), affiliated units and the effort of student and lecturers, GUST focuses to become one of five universities ranking in Vietnam and get the top 300 universities in Asia.
After four years of Establishment and development, many training programs of scientific research, technology incubation, development and technology transfer at GUST were implemented to develop the system of laboratories as well as the capacity of scientific research of the team of lecturers - researchers of GUST. From 2017, GUST was the first university training institution in Vietnam deploying postdoctoral programs. The group of more than 800 PhD students, 300 Senior Researcher, and 50 postdoctoral fellows are studying PhD program, Master program and Postdoc program in 12 faculties at GUST. GUST will strive to become a modern, effective, advanced, high level of research university in regional and international level.
